SEO and Content Best Practices

A practical SEO guide for pages, images, and metadata.

The importance of naming images in SEO.

Naming images correctly improves search engine ranking. Avoid generic names like image1.jpg and prefer descriptive names like bottle-red-wine-douro.jpg . This helps search engines understand the image's content, improving visibility in image search results.

ALT and TITLE of the images

ALT (alternative text) : Describes the image for screen readers and is displayed when the image fails to load. It is essential for accessibility and SEO.

TITLE (image title) : This is the text that appears when you hover your mouse over the image. It helps with context , but has less impact on SEO.

Good practice : Use short, descriptive sentences with relevant keywords.

Titles H1, H2, H3 – content structure

  • H1 : Main page title. It must be unique and contain the main keyword.
  • H2: Main subheadings that organize the content into sections.
  • H3: Subdivisions within H2, used to hierarchize the content in more detail.
Good practice : Never use more than one H1 per page. Use H2 and H3 to structure the content as if it were a logical index.

Title Goal

The meta title (or meta title ) is the title that appears in Google search results. It should summarize the page's content and include the main keyword.

Recommended : up to 60 characters . It should be clear, appealing, and unique.

Meta Keyword

The meta keyword (or meta keyword ) used to indicate the main terms of the page, but nowadays it has little weight for modern search engines.

It is recommended to use this feature only for internal organization or extra context, if StudioCMS allows it.

Meta description

The meta description is the text that appears below the title on the Google search results page. It serves as an invitation to click.

Recommended : up to 165 characters . It should be descriptive, appealing, and include the main keyword.

Page sharing (OpenGraph)

OpenGraph metadata allows you to control how a page is displayed when shared on social media (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn).

With StudioCMS, you can define:
  • Title for sharing (og:title)
  • Description (og:description)
  • Featured image (og:image)

Good practice : Use images with a minimum size of 1200x630px for optimized presentation on social media.
